#1. It's All About Your Location, Location, Location

Your "location" can directly impact what types of CCTV security cameras in Australia you should choose.

Because it has determined the following factors:

Climate: Given the weather conditions in your location, if you need an outdoor security camera in Australia, like in Perth, Sydney, Adelaide or Canberra, it should at least withstand the blistering heat, freezing cold, beating sun, pounding rain and everything in between.

For example, the security cameras in Perth Western Australia are expected to stand temperature up to 120 degrees.

Takeaway: To choose the best outdoor security camera systems in Australia, it is recommended that you go for the IP 65 or IP 66 waterproof security cameras.

House Type: Need a WiFi security camera in Australia for your three-story home but you are concerned that the WiFi signal may be affected by all the solid concrete walls/floors?

Your hands are not tied: get a WiFi booster to strengthen the signal or buy a wired IP security camera in Australia.

Or in case you just move into a new house and don't want the ugly cables to break the décor of your home, the perfect solution is to buy a battery-operated security camera in Australia, which is totally wire-free and can be moved from room to room.

Takeaway: Learn the differences between wired and wireless security cameras and find the best security cameras in Australia suiting your house.

Power Outlet & Internet Connection: Power source is no longer a must for you to keep tabs on your property, all thanks to the emergence of battery-powered outdoor security cameras and solar security cameras in Australia.

And there are also ways out if your place has no Internet connection.

Buy a battery security camera with a memory card (slot). Then the motion-detection footage will be stored onboard for your later review.

Or you may check whether there are 4G security cameras available in Australia, which can work independently from WiFi connection.

Takeaway: Check out the solutions for wireless security cameras without network.

#2. Keep Your Finger on the Pulse

It is always better to prevent than cure.

To keep tabs on your home or business while you are away, it's recommended to get a home security camera kit in Australia with free smartphone App.

So you can receive instant security camera alerts when motion is detected and watch live viewing to catch the burglars red-handed.

And you can even scare the thieves away with the two-way audio function of wireless security cameras for your Australian home.

Taking Reolink App and Client as an example, they feature a user-friendly interface and support multiple operating systems including Android, iOS, Windows and Mac.

You can login your security camera systems in Australia anytime on your mobile devices to check out what is happening out there or play back the recorded videos.

#3. Make No Compromise on Daytime and Nighttime Monitoring

You can never predict when the thieves will break in, and that's why you need a home security camera for your Australian home in the first place.

So if you want to buy the best outdoor wireless security camera in Australia, it is important that the camera performs well both in the daytime and at night.

Resolution is one of the factors that determine the video quality of the HD security camera systems working in Australia.

Generally speaking, 1080p security cameras can allow you to recognize car/vehicle number plates and the general human facial features.

If you want to see more detailed information, choose the higher resolution security cameras in Australia, such as the 5MP security cameras to see wider and clearer (as shown in the video below).

#4. Weigh the Cost of Buying IP Security Cameras in Australia

Whether you intend to buy home security cameras in Australia from the local retailers or distributors, security camera price is perhaps what you care most.

And you should, actually, as sometimes the price tag of home security cameras in Australia may not be the final cost you need to pay.

For example, if you want to buy WiFi security cameras online in Perth Australia or Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, remember to consider the shipping fees, custom fees, installation cost, accessory expenses, etc.

A piece of money-saving advice: you may purchase the DIY home security camera systems in Australia, which can be installed on your own and thus reducing the cost to hire installers.

But take heed: don't resort to the fake or dummy security cameras in Australia for the sake of saving money.

They won't do the trick at all when it comes to protecting your home and property.

#5. Choose Secure and Qualified Home Security Cameras in Australia

Isn't it horrible to imagine that your home or business in Australia can be streamed worldwide through your security cameras in Perth Australia or Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra?

And such things did happen before. (Read the news about security camera footage streaming on website.)

The lessons?

Changing the default password of your new security camera kits in Australia is one thing you need to remember.

Moreover, choose the security cameras of high security level sold in Australia from top CCTV camera brands, which are equipped with multiple secure settings, including SSL encryption, WPA2-AES encryption, and SSL-TLS enabled to keep the footage from falling into wrong hands.

Security Cameras Laws in Australia

Australia is a security-conscious country, and the IP security cameras in the Australian workplace and for home use are seemingly everywhere.

However, the use of cameras must comply with all relevant security camera privacy laws and regulations in Australia.

If you are about to install security cameras for your business in Australia, you need to notify the presence of your security cameras and ensure any personal information recorded is kept secure and is destroyed when it is no longer required.

Though CCTV security cameras in Australia operated by individuals are not covered by the Privacy Act 1988, you also shouldn't cross the bottom line.

Make sure your home security cameras in Australia are only monitoring your property and are not overlooking areas where people could reasonably expect privacy, such as your neighbor's bedroom, bathroom, etc.

Where to Place Your Home Security Cameras in Australia

Imagine you have decided to buy one of the recommended IP security cameras from Australia, the next question you may ask is where you should place the CCTV security cameras for your home in Perth, Sydney, Canberra or Adelaide.

According to the home burglary statistics, the most common points of entry into a burglarized home are the front doors, first-floor windows, back doors, garage, unlocked entrances, second floor, etc.

So, have a careful examination of your home and see which is the weakest entry into your house, and that's definitely where you should consider installing a home security camera in Australia.

If you don't want your security camera to be noticed, choose the hidden security cameras sold in Australia or place them in some low-profile places to blend into the environment.

Also, according to the sellers of CCTV surveillance cameras in Australia, placing your cameras about seven feet high and pointed slightly down produces the best detection results.

Where to Buy Home Security Cameras in Australia

Thanks to the advanced technology, your options are no longer limited to the security camera suppliers and stores located in Australia.

Now you can also buy security cameras from Australia online, such as on eBay, Costco, Catch of the day and the online official store of some security camera brands worldwide.

For example, if you want to buy Reolink Argus 2 in Australia, you may place your order directly from Reolink official store with free shipping and enjoy 2-year product limited warranty.

To sum up, whether you want to buy a home security camera in Western Australia, South Australia, Perth Australia, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide or other places, you will certainly find the best security cameras with the above things keeping in mind.

  1. Robert Downey says:

Hey, Thank you for posting this knowledgeable article about security cameras. Actually I have inaugrated a new home so I need home security camera but I have a issue, How could I do the installation of these cameras?

    • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Robert, so glad that this post helps. If you need a security camera for your new home, the best recommendation would be the complete wire-free battery & solar powered security cameras, like Reolink Argus® 2, https://reolink.com/product/argus-2/. So you don't need to run messy cables or drill holes to break the decor of your new house. And it is super easy to install even if you are a tech layman. If you need any more assistance, plz let me know and I'd love to help.:)

      • Cheryl says:

Hi Jenny, I had to make a comment as I bought a Reolink Argus 2 camera and it WAS required to drill holes in the brick wall of my house to install the camera so I don't know how you can make that statement. The screws that provided were useless also because they were for wood and I had to drill into a brick wall.

        • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Cheryl, just as this video shows, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylCp7dbxoT0, Reolink Argus 2 is designed to be completely wire-free and portable for anywhere. Whether you need to drill holes largely depends on where you intend to install the camera. For example, if you place Reolink Argus 2 in the nursery room or your living room, there would be no need to run wires or drill holes. But if you put up the camera on the walls or under the soffit, you'll need to stabilize the camera with screws.

          • Cheryl says:

Yes it's correct, it depends on where you intend to install the camera as to whether you need to drill holes or not. That's why you shouldn't have stated that you don't need to drill holes to break the decor of your house as you have no idea whether a person needs to drill holes or not to install the camera.

          • Cheryl says:

It's designed to be completely wire-free and portable but that doesn't mean that holes won't need to be drilled in brick walls if that is the location where you want to place the camera, as in my situation. Screws for masonry should have been supplied, not just for wood.

          • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Cheryl, thanks for your valuable suggestions about the screws. I'll forward your advice to our R&D team and see if there is anything they can improve. 🙂

          • Cheryl says:

You are welcome. Another thing that should be improved on is the length of the cord that was supplied to be attached to the camera and the base as I found it too short. This limits how much I can move the camera around.

  2. Cheryl says:

Hi Jenny, I like the Reolink Argus 2 camera and was going to buy one but I then saw advertised the Argus Go. It interests me as it states Wifi is not needed. How does it work without WiFi? I do not have a lot of internet data so this is why I am interested. Also, when will Cloud storage for Argus cameras be available in Australia? Thanks, Cheryl

    • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Cheryl, Reolink Go works on 3G/4G cellular data to transmit images and videos, and a data plan is needed to run the camera. Note that currently Reolink Go is not available in Australia yet. As for the Reolink cloud storage service, plz stay tuned with us and you will know asap once it is available in Australia.

      • Cheryl says:

Thanks. I think I will buy the Reolink Argus 2 then. I hope my internet connection will be good enough. I saw somewhere that the two year warranty doesn't apply unless the Reolink cameras are bought from the official Reolink website. Is this true?

        • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Cheryl, that's not quite true. The 2-year limited warranty applies to all Reolink products purchased from its official website and official stores on Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, etc.

        • Cheryl says:

That's good to know. I was worried about that as I hadn't seen any photos of the cameras with skins on when they are attached to a solar panel cable. I thought it would be a bad design if solar panel cables could not be attached to the cables with the skins on.

  3. Cheryl says:

What SD card do you recommend? I have been having trouble with them lately. When I transferred photos and videos from my phone to the SD card, some of the photos and videos appear as grey or black images and some of the pictures have coloured stripes over them, meaning my original images are destroyed. This also happened when I viewed video on a card on a GoPro type camera, so it's not just a problem on my phone. This has happened with different brands and memory capacity with the cards. This is why I don't have confidence in relying on viewing video on SD cards.

  4. Cheryl says:

Hi Jenny. I have been reading reviews on the Argus 2 cameras and I saw someone state that these cameras don't connect with 4g/LTE. That's a concern for me as I use a 4g modem. I use it wirelessly with my laptop and mobile phone so I assumed I could use it with this camera also.

    • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Cheryl, Reolink Argus® 2 works on 2.5GHz WiFi network. If your modem is capable to offer 2.5GHz WiFi connection, then you can use this wireless security camera. Hope this helps.

      • Cheryl says:

Hi Jenny. Thanks for your prompt reply. I do have a 2.4GHz wifi modem so the camera should work with it connected. My main concern is whether it will be a stable connection and if I have enough data as I only have 30GB per month.

I ordered an Argus 2 camera yesterday with a solar panel from Reolink yesterday. I spent all day researching places to buy it from. There weren't many places I could buy it from. I decided to buy from Reolink as it was the best option for me. Some sites wouldn't sell to Australia. Can you recommend a good SD memory card? I have been having trouble with the ones I have been buying.

        Thanks, Cheryl

  5. My Duc Vo says:

    Hi Jenny,
I am about to order the 5MP Reolink wireless outdoor camera. However, I wonder if it work well with night vision.

  6. Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Joe, thank you so much for your great support. Actually we are now stocking products for the overseas warehouse so as to improve your shopping experience. It is estimated that Reolink RLC-422 will be available for purchase in January on our official website. If you have any more questions, plz feel free to let me know.

  7. MichaelB says:

    Hi Jenny
Has there been any update when cloud storage will be available in Australia as this is the only factor in stopping me purchasing the Argus 2 and giving consideration to other brands ?
    Cheers

    • Jenny Hu says:

Hi, Michael, there is no specific date when the cloud storage will be available in Australia. But I can share you another good news about Reolink Argus 2 – it will be compatible with Google home in the second quarter this year. So please stay tuned with us for the latest progress.
