HONG KONG, June 18, 2019 — Reolink today announces its Argus 2, Argus Pro, Argus Eco, Argus PT, E1 and E1 Pro work with Google Assistant, enabling customers to use their voice to control the 6 Reolink smart home cameras to get live streaming with Google Nest Hub or Chromecast-enabled TVs.

Customers now can use simple commands to control the cameras, by saying ”Hey Google, show [name of the room where the camera is placed] on [name of Chromecast device]”, to get live streaming directly without any complicated configuration.

Verbal order is the easiest and smartest way to control smart home devices, and Reolink aims to provide the most seamless experience for customers. The power of Google Assistant to hear and interpret voice demands makes smart home control simpler and more intuitive.

”Voice control has been the top technology trend since the blossom of smart home devices, like smart security cameras, smart speakers, etc. Consumers are always seeking an easier and smarter way to control their smart devices,” said Colin Lau, Reolink's CEO, ”That's why we keep innovating to make our security cameras integrate with third-party devices. And the compatibility of Google Assistant is one of our milestones to reach our goal to make our products more connected, simple and convenient!”

  1. Misotonic says:

Google Assistant is all very well, but what about Amazon Alexa? Or even more radically Apple HomeKit (like the just-announced support from the Arlo range). Reolink are rather behind the curve on all of this.

    • Elvia says:

Hello there, our products with be compatible with Alexa soon. At the same time, our R&D team is working hard to bring the integration between our cameras and HomeKit.

We are always aiming to provide the best and most seamless compatibility performance between our products and third-party software or firmware so that our customers can get a truly smart and connected home 🙂

      • Misotonic says:

That's absolutely great news! I had started to look at alternative manufacturers’ products because I was beginning to think that Reolink were never going to deliver this functionality. Now I won't have to!

        • Misotonic says:

Just to prove the difference that news makes, I have just purchased two more Reolink cameras (1x RLC422 and 1x RLC511) because I have renewed confidence in your future developments. I had visited your site and looked at the blog to see whether or not Amazon Alexa support was coming before deciding to buy two cameras from another manufacturer.

          • Elvia says:

Thank you for supporting our Reolink products 🙂

I've double checked with our R&D team.

Good news is that our products are compatible with Alexa (the function part). However, we have to get the license or permission from Amazon.

Once Amazon authorizes the integration, we will announce the compatibility in our news soon 🙂

            Just stay tuned!

  2. Rui Meireles says:

I'm very interested in these cameras, specially because they have integration with Google Assistant.
However, I live in the Netherlands, and I just found out that this feature is only enabled for US, Canada, Australia, & New Zealand.
Are there plans to support more regions anytime soon? Or is there any configuration I can do in order to be able to use it? It will be a huge disappointment if I can't use this feature.

    • Elvia says:

Hi Rui, both Reolink Cloud service and Google Home support are expected to be released in Europe in the first quarter of 2020. We will keep you updated if there is any news on it. Please stay tuned!

        • Elvia says:

Hello David, Reolink Cloud service and Google Home support are expected to be released in Europe in Q1 2020. If there are any updates, we will let you know. 🙂

          • Narcis Vila says:

Hello, any updates about this or any expected dates? We are located in Spain but it seems there is no option to enable Clould on Argus yet 🙁

          • Elvia says:

Hello Narcis, we are still working on the upgrade of cloud services in EU and UK so the release date remains to be determined. If there are any updates, we will let you know.

  3. Peter Xander says:

The Reolink E1 Pro (and likely all other cameras) Google Assistant integration is terrible! The picture sent to Chromecast is extremely low resolution, the picture is pixalated and ”swimming”, objects move in jerky jumps. It is unusable. This was done not to be used, only so they can put ”Google Assistant” badge on the camera to sell it. Be warned. Other manufacturer cameras, e.g. D-Link integrated with Google Assistant display high resolution video. Be warned!

    • Lorenz says:

Hello Peter, we are sorry for your experience with our product. Currently, we only offer the live view in sub-stream via Google Assitant integration. Our R&D team is working on this issue and we will let you know if there are any updates. Thanks.

    • Lorenz says:

Hello Frank, we are sorry that you may not do so as of now. Due to the Google Assistant integration limit, you can only access the Reolink camera on your Google Home devices via voice commands at present. We will keep you posted if we offer other integration features. Hope this helps.

    • Elvia says:

Hello Randy, all of Reolink's NVR security systems won't work with Google Assistant as of now. We will keep you posted if there are any updates. Hope this clarifies. 😉

      • Damian Kaczmarek says:

Hi Elvia, I recently invested in setting up multiple Reolink IP cameras. I have also one Argus 2. Would be nice to have a consistent experience and use everything with Google Assistant... Are there any plans for supporting the NVR

        • Elvia says:

Hi Damian, we don't have any plans to upgrade our NVR and security system to work with Google Assistant as of now. If there are any updates, we will let you know. 🙂

          • Raf Quintens says:

+1 for wanting google assistant itntegration for NVR connected camera's (combination of RLC-420
            RLC-422,RLC-423,RLK8-800B) cameras

  4. John Castro says:

So after updating my firmware, I just fount out that the Google Home integration only work on US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand?
Any plans to include your customers on other countries? ~Philippines

    • Elvia says:

Hi John, yes, we will launch an update recently that makes Google Home integration on Reolink cameras available in most countries around the world. We will let you know when it is available. Please follow our Facebook @ReolinkTech and stay tuned! 😉

  5. Elvia says:

Hi Bob, C1 Pro is supported and you may set up your camera to work with Google Assistant via Reolink app in Cloud->Smart Home screen. 🙂

  6. John O Connor says:

Will the 4MP Super HD Wireless Security Camera Outdoor, 2.4/5GHz Dual Band WiFi CCTV IP Camera work with google assistant. I'm from Ireland

    • Elvia says:

Hi John, Reolink RLC-410W, the 4MP super HD outdoor dual-band wifi CCTV camera, works with Google Assistant. You may enable the Google Assistant integration via Reolink app in the Cloud->smart home screen. Hope this helps.

      • CP says:

my RLC-410W worked w/ Google Assistant after I bought it for several weeks. then about 2-3 weeks ago it quit (it connects, is detected and tries to show the stream, but ends up on a black screen simply saying ”Smart Home Camera”). I've been in contact with Reolink support, but can't get a resolution. Not sure if this is an issue w/ Reolink or Nest/Google. does anyone else out there have an RLC-410W still working w/ Google Assistant?

        • Elvia says:

Hi there, please offer the UID of your 410w camera and the email address that you use to apply Reolink Cloud account to our support team. They will look further into the issues and help you out. Hope that the issues would be solved asap.

          • CP says:

yes, I've done so, thanks. would still love to hear from anyone else out there if they have the RLC-410W working currently with Google Assistant!

          • CP says:

still curious if anybody else has this working with Google Assistant – mine randomly started working (again) last night. and still does this morning. if anybody else has had similar experiences, please respond here! thanks

  7. Matthew Grech says:

I also just bought the RLK8-800D4 and disappointed to hear it might not support streaming to Google Home Hub or ChromeCast. Can you please confirm if this will get resolved with a software update?

  8. Philip De Smet says:

Hi there , i recently purchased the NVR RLN8-410-E (BELGIUM) because it said on the box ”Works with Google Assistant”. Until now it's impossible to use my camera's on my chromecast/nest hubs ... a bit disappointing... The app and quality of the camera's though are outstanding so i'm quite pleased about the quality, but still i think it's unfair to claim that there is a Google Home integration if this doesn't work (Belgium). Hope you'll fix this issue.

    • Elvia says:

Hi Philip, we are sorry that our security systems with NVRs don't work with Google Assistant as of now since Google Assistant can't recognize voice commands to show video stream from multi-channel NVRs.
Also, note that we don't put the info ”Works with Google Assistant” on the package of the RLN8-410-E NVR. Please send us a picture so that we can look further into the issues. Thanks!

      • Murray says:

I bought a Reolink RLK16-410B8-5MP and I'm sure it had ”Works with Google Assistant” on the box/website. It's all installed now by our electrician while building the house and now I read that it's not compatible. This is disappointing, especially when I know other companies with DVRs can make it work with Google Assistant.
        Please help.

        • Elvia says:

Hello Murray, we are sorry that our NVR systems don't work with Google Assistant as of now but we have forwarded your suggestion to our R&D team. Also, note that at present, we do not advertise that our NVR system work with Google Assistant on the package or website. To help us improve the user experience, please let us know if you can still find the boxes/website saying that our system ”Works with Google Assistant”. Thank you for your help in advance.

  9. Sabrina Sabrina says:

    Hi,
I just but an argus 2 and i see it in Google home but when i try to make a routine to put the cam on or off, il doesn't work. So my question is: does it works in France? Tanks for your answer. Sabrina

      • Sabrina Sabrina says:

Thanks Elvia for your answer but, seeing the cam on my chromecast works good.
But for ex with my xiaomi, i say ”hey Google, turn on camera” and my cam turn on.
With the argus 2, when i say ”hey Google turn on argus,” it answer ”i don't understand” without this i cant make routines when i leave home. Thanks

        • Elvia says:

Hello Sabrina, currently Reolink cameras only support the voice command of accessing the camera for live view. So, you cannot turn on/off the camera with Google Assistant. Hope this clarifies.

          • Tadek M. says:

            Hi Elvia,

Is this functionality (enabling Reolink scenes via Google Home routines) in the pipeline for development? Would be cool as this is something pretty standard for many other cameras (like Sabrina mentioned – ”hey google turn on cameras” would be great to have).

          • Elvia says:

Hello Tadek, while we are happy to hear about your interest, we are sorry that the functionalities that you have mentioned are not in the pipeline for development as of now. If there are any updates, we will make announcement on our social media, https://www.facebook.com/ReolinkTech. 🙂

        • Tadek M. says:

          Hi Sabrina,

My friend has found a workaround for this issue (and I'm using it since yesterday)

I've connected the camera to the smart power plug that works with Google Home (I used Tuya one, but it can be anything).

When I'm home it is off, and when I leave it turns on.

          Works fine.

  10. Chris says:

Hi there, any update on the possibility of the RLN8-410-E integration with the Google home hub?
does it look like a possibility in the near future or not at at all?

    Thanks, Chris.

    • Elvia says:

Hi Chris, we don't have any news on the Google integration on Reolink's NVRs to share with you now. If there are any updates, we will let you know.
