  13. Robert de Rooy says:

Any plans to support PoE cameras with Google Home (Assistant)? I have already wired things up with PoE and as such am not interested in WiFi cameras (also because the areas are outside my WiFi range, and would need another power source). I'm looking for outdoor ceiling and wall mount cameras. This is for Europe.

@LorenzZhou:disqus do you have a rough timeline on when we might expect this? I'm in the market for a system and this impacts my decision. Thanks.

          • Tabe says:

So Reolink pre-sale support tells me that the 5MP POE cameras will he getting Google Home support but NOT the NVRs... Does that sound right to you? I don't understand what the point of individual cams getting Google support but not the NVRs that they work through... Kind of a deal breaker if true.

          • Lorenz says:

Hello Tabe, Reolink PoE cameras that pair with NVR don't have UIDs so you won't be able to control these security cameras via Google Assistant at present. Also, we have forwarded your suggestion to our R&D team and hope that our security systems get Google support soon. Thank you again for your love and support for Reolink! 🙂

          • Tabe says:

@LorenzZhou:disqus do you know if it will be possible to connect the cameras into a POE switch instead of into the NVR, to get the Google Home functionality while still recording to the NVR (also connected to the switch)?

          • Lorenz says:

Hi Tabe, at present, to enjoy the Google support, we only recommend you to use the PoE security cameras alone without connecting them to the NVR or PoE switch. We will let you know asap when we have a plan to upgrade our systems to work with Google Assistant. Hope this would clarify.

  14. Chris Alberto says:

Alexa devices have 5x the number of users as Google. Why would you focus on making Google compatible first? This compatibility will affect my future purchases.

      • Chris Alberto says:

I got my numbers from here. Sorry I referenced Echo vs. Home. Echo Show has 3% market while Home Hub is 1.2%. Perhaps Google was just easier to integrate with.

    • Lorenz says:

Hi Rob, yes, you can view the video feed of Reolink security cameras that work with Google Assistant on your hub directly.

  17. Martijn says:

Team you are communicating that argus 2 is compatible with Google assistant. Unfortunenately i have just found out that it is only available in the US. How is your roadmap looking at the emea/ Europa region to support google assistant?
    Regards
    Martijn

    • Lorenz says:

Hello Martijn, currently you can only use Reolink security cameras that work with Google Assistant in four countries, including the US, CA, AU and NZ. Also, we do plan to add more countries and regions to support Google Assistant (and we are working on it!). Please follow us on Facebook @ReolinkTech or subscribe to us and stay tuned! 🙂

  18. Greg StJohn says:

Hi, I have RLK8-410B4 with 5 4K and 2 4mp connected directly to NVR. If I connect all the cameras to a POE switch, give them all unique IP address and import them into the NVR, would I be able to then see these cameras on Google Home?

    • Lorenz says:

Hi Greg, Reolink's NVRs won't work with Google Assistant currently. So, to see these cameras on Google Home, it is best to connect them to your router directly. Hope this would clarify and you may feel free to contact me if you have other questions.

  19. Paul Ingram says:

I think you should make it clear – Alex is not compatible with ANY of your cameras......the article is very misleading. It isnt ”one of them”.....it might be in the future....but it isn't NOW.

    • Lorenz says:

Hi Paul, thank you for your kind suggestion and we will make that clear in the article. Also note that our team has been testing on the Alexa-compatibility recently and hopefully we will upgrade our cameras to work with Alexa soon!

      • Paul Ingram says:

Thanks Lorenz....good to see people monitoring feedback so closely. On a side note, I was disappointed to see that my POE cams can record to the NVR but the Argus 2 wont!! Any view on that happening?

        • Lorenz says:

Hi Paul, all Reolink battery-powered security cameras including Argus 2 record to SD cards or Reolink Cloud only. So, your Argus 2 camera won't record to the NVR. Hope this helps.

  20. Lorenz says:

Hello Giovanni, sorry for the late reply. Our R&D team has been working on the Alexa-compatibility and we are also looking forward to launching that smart feature soon. Also, our support team has already looked into your case and contacted you via emails. Please check your mailbox and stay in touch! 🙂

Hello Matt, we are testing the Alexa skill on Reolink cameras in different countries to find if there are any potential issues as of now. We plan to release this feature in a few weeks and we will keep you posted if there are any updates. 😉

  24. Lorenz says:

Hello there, thank you for sending us the feedback. Here are the explanation and answers to your questions: 1) There are 6 Reolink cameras that work with Google Home as of now, which are Argus 2, Argus Pro, Argus Eco, Argus PT, E1, and E1 Pro. We will have a big update when everything is ready, maybe by the end of this month.
2)We are testing the Alexa skills and plan to make the cameras mentioned above work with Alexa a few weeks later.
    3) Our NVRs and systems won't work with Google Home and Alexa at present since we decide to upgrade all our cameras to work with Google Home and Alexa first.
    4) Our cameras with micro-SD card slots only record motion-triggered events to the SD card.
Hope this clarifies and please let us know if you have any questions. 🙂

  25. Lorenz says:

Hi Shane, we are not sure whether you can turn on or off a security camera of other brands via voice commands only. In terms of Reolink cameras, you can only access this camera for live view via Google Assitant as of now. Other features are not available now due to Google's limited permission.
We will forward your ideas to our R&D team and if there are any updates, we will let you know. Anyway, thank you for sharing your ideas with us! 🙂

Hello Matthew, thank you for reaching out. We are sorry that our security systems with NVRs don't work with Google Assistant due to Google's limitation. Google Assistant cannot recognize a voice command that requires it to show multiple channels of videos as of now. If there are any updates, we will let you know.

  32. Lorenz says:

Hi there, we are still testing the Google Home integration on our PoE IP cameras so we don't make an official release as of now. But if you have got Reolink PoE IP cameras with hardware version IPC_51xxx including RLC-410 (5MP version), RLC-420, RLC-422, RLC-423, RLC-511 and RLC-520, you may enjoy the beta test of Google Home integration on our app. Here is a detailed guide for your reference, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020644034-How-to-Add-Reolink-Cameras-to-Google-Home. 33. Lorenz says:

Hello there, D800 and B800 are add-on cameras and they can work with Reolink NVRs only. So, they cannot work with Google Assistant and Alexa as of now. If we decide to upgrade our security systems with NVRs to work with Google Home and Alexa, we will let you know. 🙂

  34. Lorenz says:

Hi Cameron, while we are happy to hear about your interest, we are sorry that we don't plan to upgrade our NVR systems to work with smart home systems as of now. This is because some smart home systems don't support voice demands to show videos from different channels. Hope this clarifies.
