- For homes and smaller outdoor areas: Choose a compact PTZ model when you mainly need flexible viewing around a driveway, backyard, entrance, or side yard rather than long-distance optical zoom.
PTZ stands for pan, tilt, and zoom. A PTZ camera can move horizontally, move vertically, and zoom in on distant areas. It has more flexible coverage than a fixed-view camera. Some PTZ models also support presets, patrol routes, and automatic tracking.
