HONG KONG, September 24, 2020 – Reolink, a leading innovator in smart home security solutions, announces it takes the first step in offering smart detection with two cutting-edge 5MP/4K PoE IP cameras, RLC-510A and RLC-810A, and another two PoE NVR security systems, RLK8-510B4-A and RLK8-810B4-A.

Assisted by advanced algorithm and technology, Reolink's new IP cameras unite security and intelligence and get the smart to tell the differences among person, vehicle or movement. Users will get notified by the important events only and enjoy the convenience to customize the motion alerts to essential events they truly care about.

Based on the advanced motion detection, the recorded videos can be filtered by human activities, moving cars, or other motion events, allowing users to find and replay the most important video footage with ease on the Reolink app/Client.

Reolink PoE IP Cameras with Person/Vehicle Detection

"We firmly believe smart detection will become the next highly sought-after feature. That's why we release IP cameras with person/vehicle detection now," said Sharon Guo, Reolink's product manager. "Also, we treat users' privacy as our priority so the smart detection will be done directly on the cameras. There is no need to upload the information to any server and users can enjoy peace of mind with more accurate alerts for one-and-done cost while keeping their privacy intact."

Aside from the precise person/vehicle detection, these new IP cameras also come with advanced video compression technology and require less bandwidth and storage capacity. Another exciting function available on the smart detection lineup is the time lapse feature. Users can capture hour-long or even day-long events, such as sunrise, sunset, blooming, and the work of building, into minute-long videos.

Reolink also offers two security systems with an 8-channel NVR and 4 smart IP cameras, RLC-510A or RLC-810A, for those who prefer an expandable security solution for home or business. Another thing worth mentioning is that Reolink has renewed the NVR operation user interface with a polished layout and improved features.

Note: The new smart person/vehicle cameras can work with all Reolink NVRs but the smart detection feature is only available on NVRs with hardware version H3MB18 and N2MB02. In other words, if users connect these smart security cameras to older NVRs with hardware versions H3MB17, H3MB16, and H3MB02, they cannot use the smart detection feature and those smart cameras can be used as motion detection cameras only.

Take a sneak peek of the nice-to-have features of the new smart detection IP camera and system lineup:

  • Smart Detection: identifying person, vehicle or other movements with good accuracy.
  • 5MP/4K Super HD: capturing everything with vivid details day and night.
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE): effortless installation even for beginners.
  • Flexible Storage Options: 24/7 recording on SD card (up to 256GB) or Reolink NVRs.
  • IP66 Waterproof: standing guard keenly rain or shine.
  • Time Lapse Capture: seeing the day in a minute.
  • Google Assistant Integration: enabling hands-free control with voice commands (for the cameras only).
  • Easy Local & Remote Access: offering live view and video playback on Reolink app/Client.

Hi... great news on the new cameras and systems. Will you be updating the 4K/8mp bullet cameras with these new features?

  2. geogan says:

I have a RLN8-410 NVR and the bullet cameras (B800) and dome cameras (D800). I'm confused.

Does this new ”working” detection system work with my existing RLN8-410 NVR?

Is there going to be a software update for RLN8-410 NVR for working detection?

Do I have to buy the new bullet and dome cameras (B810 and D810?) for this detection to work?

Will the new cameras work with this new motion detection with my existing RLN8-410 NVR?

    • Lorenz says:

Hello geogan, it depends on the hardware version of your 8-channel NVR. If the hardware version is H3MB18, you may upgrade it with the latest firmware here, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900002407106-08-12-2020-Firmware-for-Reolink-RLN8-410-and-RLN16-410-H3MB18-. If its hardware is not H3MB18, the NVR won't support or work with the new IP cameras with smart detection.
Also, the smart detection feature requires an advanced chip into the camera so we cannot upgrade the existing cameras for the detection to work. If you want to enjoy the smart detection feature, you need to purchase new IP cameras like RLC-510A and RLC-810A. Hope this clarifies.

It seems my hardware is H3MB16

So that means the new cameras will not work with it, and I would need to buy a whole new NVR as well as cameras. I only bought it last year 🙁

That is a pity. No way I am replacing the lot for that one feature.

        • Lorenz says:

Hello geogan, yes, NVRs with HAMB16 hardware don't support or work with the smart detection cameras now. If there are any updates, we will let you know.

  3. Randy says:

Great, I bought a RLC-510A and now I'm figuring out why this doesn't work. I have h3MB02 that just came out with a firmware update on 12/20/2020 and this feature is still not compatible with that. Seems awful silly to have to upgrade the NVR to new hardware also. So, when can I return this?

You guys should really post the NVR requirements on the page so other people dont make the same mistake, seems like a no-brainer to me for your returns department. 🙁

      • Randy says:

Thanks for the advice Lorenz. Is there any word on wether a future firmware update will solve the issue, or is there something in the hardware of H3MB02 that makes it incompatible?

I decided in the end to keep the camera and just add onto my existing system. But I still get so many false alerts just from shadows when clouds Passover on sunnier days, if I set the sensitivity down then even people won't show up. It would be really great to have this.

Additionally, when I try to see what a new NVR would come with, it doesn't disclose what hardware it is under the technical information. Thanks!

        • Lorenz says:

Hello Randy, we don't plan to upgrade the NVR with hardware H3MB02 to support cameras with person/vehicle detection. The smart detection is done locally so it requires new hardware with advanced algorithm on both the cameras and NVRs, which is why we cannot upgrade old NVRs with firmware updates to make them work with 510A or 810A.
If you need a new NVR, please contact our sales team, https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/requests/new, and ask them about the hardware version of the NVRs available on our site. They will get back to you very soon.

Hi, I already have a series of 410′s around my property. What is the difference between the 400 series and the new 500′s? One problem I constantly have is that the motion detection in the 410′s are easily set off by rain, fog, and bugs. Do the new cameras help with false positives?
